Omigawd!

Omigawd!

We lost our modem for over three hours. Horrors! And then, and then, and then, they were going to send a technician to our house between eight and ten tomorrow morning. To come inside the house. I’d have to clean and get up early, for the cable guy. The first tech person told us that it was only our connection that was gone. When we called back to ask a question, they’d found out that “only us” was a couple hundred other households. Even though I’d known that our connection was back for about twenty minutes, it was lovely to get the call from the cable company cancelling our tech visit for the morning. Yay! I’m just so not in the mood to have anyone come over. I’m tired and…

Nothing That A Little Lottery Win Wouldn’t Solve

Nothing That A Little Lottery Win Wouldn’t Solve

Let’s see, I feel nauseous, anxious, panicky, depressed and anti-social. I’m in pain, can’t get a job, and keep getting new medical bills. The only part of the day that I find mildly entertaining is when the kittens do something cute. Okay, that’s fairly often, but still… So, how does one recover from life paralysis? I don’t even feel like blogging anymore. And oh, by the way, sitting in front of us at the Wranglers game on Saturday, “Dewey” from Malcolm in the Middle. Seems like a nice boy. It’s too bad the Leafs can’t play like the Wranglers. See, I don’t even care about paragraphs anymore. Although, I do still care about apostrophes, which is why I had to write to the new Red Rock Station hotel/casino about their…

I’m going to pretend like I’m a kid again and post pictures of my school artwork. Leigh-Ann and I took a couple of classes over the last few days; one class in glass etching (mine didn’t come out, but for a simple reason, but Leigh-Ann’s did - it’s “truthy’), and one in dye sublimation. The dye sub class was great - the instructor was organized (not so for Mr. Las Vegas glass etcher guy & his wife...for $350 for both of us! We learned more from the woman sitting in front of us) and we made some quick and easy projects. ...feeding the dogs next door (to be continued) Okay, back. Like 7 hours ago, but between then and now has been a bad Leafs game (Happy 1000th game, Tie…

Nerve Block Numbah Two – Updated

Nerve Block Numbah Two – Updated

I’m having my second injection (selective nerve root block) tomorrow afternoon. I’m not nervous this time after seeing what a non-deal it was last time. I do, still, have a bruise on my hand from the IV. I hope the same nurse is there who did it. She promised me that she’d be very careful and that I shouldn’t bruise. Hrumph. Anyway, I’ll be gone all afternoon. I’m going to drive to my parents’, then they’ll drive me to the surgery center and then back to their house. I’ll rest up there until all of the meds wear off so I can drive home. The aching generally starts a few hours afterwards anyway, so I’ll be able to take care of that at home. Update - after the injection -…

Another Injection Update – Zzzzzzz

Another Injection Update – Zzzzzzz

I didn’t get the relief that I expected over the weekend, plus I had some extra low back pain versus just the usual leg/butt/sciatica pain. Perhaps it means nothing. Hey, the bladder seems okay this weekend though, so there’s that. No Depends for at least a little while. I was debating whether or not to have the third injection, but I decided what the heck, may as well. At least that way I’ll have given the injections every opportunity to help before the doctors end up talking surgery again. Mostly, I’m just tired. Tired of feeling lousy. Tired of feeling like I can’t do anything to fix feeling lousy. It’s like a vicious unhealthy cycle in which I’m spinning my wheels. Since I’m tired of writing about my herniated disc…

Things I Need To Post Here

Things I Need To Post Here

I’m putting this plan out in public, so someone will make me do it, if I don’t do it myself. I can’t write a lot tonight because I unthinkingly agreed when the doctor’s office wanted to change my appointment from 3:30p next Monday to 9:30a tomorrow. What was I thinking? It’s all the way across town, during a time when people are probably on the freeway going to work. Ick, traffic. Anyway, it’s just another tedious consultation with another pain management specialist. I’ll think he’ll be my third of just that type of doctor. As far as I know, the last one is still recovering in the hospital from his emergency heart surgery. If I had dollar for every hour wasted in waiting rooms in the past several months, I…

Hurray, Hurray, Hurray For Dr. FancyPants’ Office!

Hurray, Hurray, Hurray For Dr. FancyPants’ Office!

Not long after I’d left my message with Dr. FancyPants’ office, I received a call back. The woman (let’s call her Magic) said, “But you were supposed to be scheduled for a selective nerve root block on December 2. I told Trudy (that’s what I’ll be calling her now) that you needed to have it done and she said it had been scheduled for 12/2.” I told Magic that I had my appointment with Dr. $250’s office on 11/30 and Trudy told me she’d call me on 12/1, after she’d talked to my insurance company. But, ah, clearly she was supposed to have talked to them in early November, before I’d even suffered through my 3.5 hour ordeal at that office. No wonder the doctor was like, “Hey yeah, injection.…

The Maddening Adventure of Unreturned Calls

I called the doctor’s office again today. The person’s extension just rang and rang and rang and rang. Finally, I called Dr. FancyPants’ office and left a message for their appointment person, telling her that I was going to have to cancel two of my appointments (pre-surgical and surgery) with Dr. FancyPants because I can’t get Dr. $250’s office to schedule my lumbar injection. I told her I was getting worse again (yesterday, the return of the, uh, butt pain) and that it was moving into my other leg. When I called her before and told her Dr. $250’s office hadn’t called me to schedule an appointment like they were supposed to, she called them and they called me that same day to schedule an appointment. Sure, one that was…

Phone Calls Not Received

I called the doctor’s office again today. Had to leave a message because the woman I need to talk to was on the phone. That was around 3p. She never called back. So, who wants the phone number? Hey, or even the address. Ilona, the office is near Mountain View Hospital, so a visit to the office isn’t even out of the question. Actually, I think I’m going to call my surgeon’s office and tell them to cancel my surgery because I can’t even get in to get the lumbar injection, so I don’t know yet if I’ll need the surgery. Perhaps they can get the ball rolling. Seriously, Dr. $250’s office didn’t even call me to schedule the appointment like they were supposed to—it took the surgeon’s office calling…

The Daily Factoid – Telephone Calls

The Daily Factoid – Telephone Calls

Remember the doctor’s office lady? Remember how she was supposed to call the next day (that was December 1st, for those of you keeping track), after talking to my insurance company? I thought I’d be polite and give her a little extra time. I called the office yesterday and spoke with her. She advised me that she hadn’t called my insurance company yet. No sirree. My leg getting weaker, losing bladder function, huge herniated disc...that apparently means nothing. So, she said she would call the insurance company today and call me back. She made sure to ask me if I’d be home, as if that mattered. Did she call today? NOPE. I may have to contact my surgeon’s office and see if they can do something about this. I’m supposed…
